What is FASTag?
FASTag is an electronic toll collection chip for national highways in India. It is a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip affixed to the windscreen of a vehicle that automatically deducts through the prepaid or savings account linked to it when it passes through designated plazas, hence streamlining traffic flow and minimizing congestion.
Why update FASTag KYC?
Recently, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced that FASTag users should update their Know Your Customer (KYC) details before the set deadline of January 31, 2024 (Wednesday), to ensure the prevention of intentional misuse of FASTags on vehicles, the issuance of multiple FASTags for a single automobile, and the distribution of FASTags without proper KYC verification.
How to update FASTag KYC?
To update your FASTag KYC, follow these steps:
- Visit the bank-linked FASTag website. To access the required page, you can Google the name of the website with the keyword โFASTagโ.
- Log in using your registered mobile number and entering the OTP received.
- Go to My Profile section and click on the KYC tab.
- After filling in the required details like address proof and submit, your KYC will be updated.

Here is a list of necessary documents for a smooth KYC verification process:
- Vehicle Registration Certificate
- Driving License
- Identify Proof: PAN Card, Voterโs ID Card
- Address Proof: Aadhar Card, Passport
- Passport-size photographs
